Hedef Filo, as part of its "Anatolian Meetings with Hedef Filo in its 20th Year," held a panel titled "Fleet Decisions," bringing together business people from Denizli and Ankara.
In the panels, moderated by Barış Esen, Murat Sağman evaluated the economy with data, while Hedef Filo Chairman Önder Erdem spoke about Hedef Filo and offered his assessments.
Speaking at the panel, Hedef Filo Chairman Önder Erdem stated that while people bought cars with great enthusiasm last year, the situation has reversed today.
Önder Erdem said that despite cars not being an investment vehicle, they have experienced an incredible increase in value in the last few years. He stated that this increase is due to many reasons, including the pandemic, the chip crisis, and inflation, and noted that in Turkey, cheap credit has led people to focus on homes and cars. Erdem stated, “The increase in demand has also been reflected in prices. However, a car is not an investment vehicle. Because it depreciates very quickly. You should replace your vehicle after 5 years according to the depreciation period.
Something that should normally depreciate has gained value. There is no example of this in the world.”
Noting that the situation in the automotive sector has reversed with the recent interest rate increases, Erdem said, “Although there were decreases in demand for car rentals in the past, we are now seeing a significant increase in demand. Investments that went to houses and cars instead of productive investments are now reversing. I think we are heading towards a healthier economy.” Sharing his assessments for 2024, Erdem continued: “I think we are in a period of saving. It's time to consolidate money and make investment plans. We can emerge from this process stronger.”
In his speech, Önder Erdem also touched upon Target Fleet's 20th anniversary: “Our company stands out as an organization operating in the field of automobile financing. Cars are generally high-cost investments, and this is where the financing process comes into play. Therefore, they require significant investments. As Target Fleet, we support our customers by offering flexible installment plans for car financing with terms ranging from 1 to 4 years. In our 20th year, strengthening our operations in Ankara is one of our priorities. We are especially proud to contribute to the economic development of the region by bringing our expertise to the industrial zone.”
In the first part of the panel, Mehmet Yiğit, CEO of Voltify, a subsidiary of Hedef Filo, gave a presentation on "Electric Vehicles and the Turkish Market." The presentation focused on the current regulations for electric vehicles, the Turkish market, and the opportunities awaiting this sector in 2024. The company, which offers electric vehicle rental services to its customers under the "Voltify" brand within Hedef Filo, then offered participants the opportunity to test drive electric vehicles after the panel.
